Rutgers football team, Chris Ash celebrate wildly in locker room after 35-24 win over Illinois

The fact is that Rutgers football hasn’t had much success in Big Ten play since joining the conference.

So, when the Scarlet Knights defeated Illinois 35-24 on Saturday — which marked the program’s first Big Ten win since Oct. 17, 2015 when the team defeated the Indiana Hoosiers, 55-52 — the team celebrated as if there was no tomorrow.

In the Scarlet Knights’ locker room, here’s what it looked like after the 11-point road victory:

The entire team was jumping up and down in joy, but it wasn’t just the players. Coach Chris Ash was, too.

Next up for Ash and his Scarlet Knights is a contest against Purdue at home for a noon ET kickoff on Oct. 21.
