Mario Cristobal and the Oregon Ducks had a turbulent recruiting season with the departure of former coach Willie Taggart and numerous de-commitments. However, the 2018 class came together and ended up being one of the best classes in Oregon history.
Oregon finished with the No. 15 ranked recruiting class, according to Rivals.com. The Ducks landed 11 4-star recruits, including tackle Penei Sewell, receiver Jalen Hall and safeties Steve Stephens and Jevon Holland.
Rivals.com National Recruiting Director Mike Farrell’s ranked Mario Cristobal’s first class at Oregon an “A”. Here is what Farrell had to say about Cristobal’s first class:
It was hit or miss on Signing Day for Oregon, but overall this is a class to be excited about. Losing out on Devon Williams hurt but landing Penei Sewell, Isaah Crocker, Jalen Hall and others really makes this a well-rounded and formidable class for Cristobal.
Cristobal and his staff may have missed out on some of their top targets, but the 2018 class is still very strong and should provide a nice foundation going forward.
