Chip Kelly hit the ground running as he made his return to the college ranks with the UCLA Bruins. The Bruins had a solid recruiting season while battling it out with some of the top teams in the country.
UCLA finished with the No. 17 ranked recruiting class, according to Rivals.com. The Ducks landed 9 4-star recruits, including QB Dorian Robinson-Thompson, tight end Michale Ezeike, receiver Chase Cota and linebacker Bo Calvert.
Rivals.com National Recruiting Director Mike Farrell’s ranked Chip Kelly’s first class at Oregon an “B-“. Here is what Farrell had to say about Kelly’s first class:
Kelly’s class might be ranked higher than many of the coaches ahead of him but it’s also much easier to recruit at UCLA than it is at many other programs. Adding Michael Ezeike was a big get down the stretch and quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson could be a star, but there were also some reaches in the class. It will be interesting to see if he can hang with USC in recruiting.
This class should provide a solid foundation for Kelly and the Bruins going forward.
