Not everyone can go dancing in late March. Some teams are already preparing for next November when the season starts again.
Vanderbilt is one of those teams, and they’ve already granted releases to two players, according to Adam Sparks of the Tennessean.
Vanderbilt basketball players Payton Willis and Larry Austin Jr. have been granted their release, according to a source close to the situation.
Willis was a role player in his two seasons with the Commodores, only starting 16 games and averaging just over 5 points per game. Austin played in just three games for Vanderbilt this past season after he transferred from Xavier.
The Commodores don’t really need either, but it will hurt the team’s depth as they try to rebuild after a 12-20 season.
