Report: N.C. State in contract extension negotiations with Dave Doeren

It appears Dave Doeren is no longer sitting on the hot seat thanks to N.C. State’s emergence as a contender in the ACC this season.

According to a report from USA Today reporter Dan Wolken, N.C. State and the Wolfpack’s coach “are engaged in extensive negotiations to extend his contract in the wake of a 5-1 start, multiple people with knowledge of the process told USA TODAY Sports.”

The deal hasn’t been formally announced but is expected to be made public in the next few days.

Doeren entered this season with just three years left on his contract but N.C. State’s strong start, which has included impressive victories vs. Florida State and Louisville, apparently has solidified his status.

Overall, Doreen has a 30-27 record in his tenure at N.C State.

N.C. State travels to Pittsburgh on Oct. 14 for a noon matchup.
