Report: SMU hires Sonny Dykes as head coach to replace Chad Morris

After Chad Morris accepted the Arkansas job last week, SMU has found his replacement.

According to Sports Illustrated’s Bruce Feldman, the Mustangs have hired longtime college football coach Sonny Dykes to lead their program.

Dykes was most recently the head coach at California from 2013-16, where he compiled a 19-30 record.

He spent this past season as an offensive analyst for the TCU Horned Frogs under Gary Patterson.

Morris was at SMU for three years before heading to Fayetteville to coach the Razorbacks.
