According to 247Sports, Three-star tight end James Mitchell is committing to Virginia Tech.
Mitchell, who attended Big Stone Gap (VA) Union High School, selected Virginia Tech over Duke and Georgia.
The 6-foot-4 prospect from the Class of 2018 was selected First-Team All-State at tight end, defensive back and punt returner.
At Virginia Tech, Mitchell will be playing as a hybrid tight end/wide receiver.
Mitchell will fit right in with a Hokies receiving corps that has excellent size such as 6-foot-4 Tre Turner and 6-foot-2 Darryle Simmons.
Mitchell is the No. 6 overall recruit in Virginia according to the 247Sports Composite rankings.
Virginia Tech now has the No. 3 class in the ACC and No. 17 class in the nation for 2018.
