Report: Oregon RB coach Donte’ Pimpleton to join Willie Taggart at Florida State

Oregon running backs coach Donte’ Pimpleton is set to join coach Willie Taggart at Florida State, according to a report by Aaron Fentress of NBC Sports Northwest.

It is no surprise that Pimpleton, who is expected to be the RBs coach at Florida State, is leaving Oregon for Florida State as they have coached together for many years. Pimpleton joined the Oregon program last year after spending two years coaching RBs under Taggart at South Florida. Pimpleton first coached under Taggart at Western Kentucky where he worked with the wide receivers.

In fact, their relationship goes even further back. The tw0 were teammates at Western Kentucky where Taggart played QB and Pimpleton was a receiver.

Pimpleton is the first Oregon assistant coach that Taggart has hired away from the Ducks since he bolted on Dec. 4. It is expected that a few more assistants will join Taggart at Florida State.

One assistant that won’t flock to FSU is defensive coordinator Jim Leavitt. The Ducks locked up defensive Leavitt on Sunday night, agreeing to a 4-year deal that is worth around $1.7 million annually.
