Report: Kirby Hocutt to sign new contract at Texas Tech

Texas Tech athletic director Kirby Hocutt will sign a new contract with the school, according to Karen Michael of the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal.

The exact specifics of Hocutt’s new deal have not been released yet. According to the report, Texas Tech is extremely pleased with his performance as athletic director, both in terms of on-field performance and service to the university.

“What I appreciate even more is what he does for our athletic programs and for this university,” Texas Tech President Lawrence Schovanec said. “As opportunities would come forward, for him, I felt it was important for us to send a message as to how much we value what he does.”

Don Williams of the Avalanche-Journal expounded on some more details on Hocutt’s contract.

Hocutt has been the athletic director at Texas Tech since 2011. In that time, the university has raised funds to build a massive Sports Performance Center and performed well in several sports. Hocutt is also the chairman for the College Football Playoff Committee.
