Coates has struggled to become a standout offensive presence in recent seasons. After the Pittsburgh Steelers took him in the third round of the 2015 NFL Draft, Coates has 516 yards receiving with 2 touchdowns for his career. His best season came in 2016, when he had 435 yards receiving and 2 touchdowns in 14 games with the Steelers.
In college, Coates was a standout presence for Auburn. He totaled 1,757 yards receiving with 13 touchdowns from 2012-14.
The Texans went 4-12 last season, their worst record since going 2-14 in 2013.
