Report: Falcons bringing back former Missouri linebacker Sean Weatherspoon

A fan favorite is coming back to Atlanta.

The Atlanta Falcons, a day after losing former LSU linebacker Duke Riley for a few weeks to a torn meniscus, have decided to bring back linebacker Sean Weatherspoon, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

The former Missouri linebacker played for the Tigers from 2006-2009 and was a standout on a strong defense. The Falcons drafted him 19th overall in the 2010 draft.

Weatherspoon played in Atlanta for four seasons before spending the last two playing for the Arizona Cardinals.

Weatherspoon developed into a valuable member and leader of the Falcons defense as well as a fan favorite in the city. His addition will bring depth and experience to a unit that began the season starting two second-year players and a rookie.
