That’s good money for what will likely be a difficult job ahead of Del Conte. He’ll likely be tasked with rebuilding the Longhorns’ TV contracts, which might determine the future of the Big 12. As Texas goes, so does the conference, and Del Conte has now stepped into one of the most important roles for the future of the Big 12.
Del Conte did a fantastic job at TCU, and that job should be lauded by TCU fans. He actively went out and got the basketball program Jamie Dixon, who is in the middle of creating one of the biggest turnarounds in college basketball. He also got TCU into the Big 12, a feat that definitely improved not only the athletic department, but the university at large.
