Report: Bob Diaco to join Oklahoma football staff

The latest coach to join Lincoln Riley’s coaching staff is former Uconn head coach and Nebraska defensive coordinator Bob Diaco, according to Carey Murdock of

Diaco will serve in a defensive analyst role, according to the report. He most famously helped Brian Kelly turn around Notre Dame, and helped lead the Fighting Irish to an appearance in the 2013 National Championship. The Irish were flattened by one of the Alabama Crimson Tide’s greatest teams of all time, 42-14.

Diaco was released from his most recent position, defensive coordinator at Nebraska, following a lackluster 4-8 2017 season for the Cornhuskers. Head coach Mike Riley was released as well, in addition to most of the assistants.

Diaco was 11-26 as the head coach of Uconn.
