According to a report from David Smoak, Baylor quarterback Zach Smith will be transferring from the school.
I've learned sophomore QB @thezach_smith has decided to transfer from #Baylor and will make it official soon. He's begun the process of getting his release. Smith, was 221-397 passing for 2,997-yards, 21-TD's in 19-games after a record-breaking career at Grandview HS. #CFB #NCAA

Smith was one of the key pieces holding Baylor together this year, until he was unseated by Charlie Brewer.
As of right now, it appears that Charlie Brewer is the man of the future for Baylor, as he will be the most tenured quarterback as a sophomore. He’ll also be the only quarterback on Baylor’s campus if Smith transfers.
Baylor does not have a single quarterback commit in the class of 2018 as of this point, and the early signing period is a mere week away.
This means the Bears will probably have to go after a JUCO quarterback or redirect their recruiting efforts elsewhere. At this point, they can’t be picky, they need a couple warm bodies at that position.
Brewer is going to be a stud, there’s no doubt about that. However, with how last season panned out for the Bears in terms of injuries, there’s nothing wrong with having lots of insurance should things go bad.
