Report: Baylor associate director of player personnel leaving for Oregon

According to Chris Vannini of The Athletic, Oregon has hired Thomas Arends, Baylor’s associate director of player personnel, as their director of player personnel.

Arends was hired by Baylor in January of 2017, and was with the Bears a little over a year. He was a recruiting student assistant under Chip Kelly from 2009-2012, and worked at Oregon in various other capacities until 2017. Now, Arends will return to his alma mater to become the Ducks’ director of player personnel.

During Arends’ tenure at Baylor, the Bears only saw one win and 11 losses, but also enjoyed great strides in recruiting. Baylor’s class of 2018 ranks fourth in the Big 12 and No. 30 in the nation according to 247 Sports.

With an exceptionally young team and all of this talent coming in, head coach Matt Rhule will have a solid foundation for the future.
