Baylor kicker Jay Sedwick has been added to the roster and will handle kickoff duties against Oklahoma State, according to a report from KCEN’s Jessica Morrey.
Sedwick was apparently added to the team on Saturday after earning a walk-on spot following an open tryout. After punter Drew Galitz went down for the year with a torn ACL, kicker Connor Martin was asked to handle kickoff, placekicking and punting responsibilities. Head coach Matt Rhule held open tryout during the bye week to try and find someone to take strain off his leg.
A freshman from Arlington, Texas, Sedwick reportedly ran with the Baylor Line during the first two games of the season as a student and fan. He played football, basketball and baseball at Grace Prep, according to MaxPreps. Sedwick averaged 52.2 yards on 14 kickoffs and 36.5 yards per punt as a senior.
