Redshirt freshman QB transferring from North Carolina

UNC redshirt freshman quarterback Logan Byrd has received his release and will transfer.

Byrd announced his decision on Twitter.

Byrd came to UNC in January 2016 from Veterans High School (Kathleen, Georgia).

Byrd redshirted his freshman season at UNC and was fourth on the depth chart in 2017.

Byrd, who has three years of eligibility remaining. was anticipated to being behind junior Nathan Elliott and sophomore Chazz Surratt going into next spring.

According to 247Sports Composite rankings, the 6-3, 230-pound Byrd was the No. 14 pro-style quarterback and No. 421 overall prospect in the Class of 2016.

North Carolina went 3-9 this season.
