No. 17 Purdue beats Butler, 82-67, at Crossroads Classic

Purdue basketball held on for a 82-67 win over Butler at the Crossroads Classic in Indianapolis on Saturday afternoon.

The 17th-ranked Boilermakers led by as many as 26 points and withstood a later Butler push for their seventh consecutive win.

Purdue (11-2) got a balanced scoring effort with each starter netting at least 12 points. Carsen Edwards led the Boilermakers with 18 points.

The Boilermakers led by 16 at halftime and that lead grew to 55-29 less than seven minutes into the second half. Purdue shot 52.9 percent in the game while Butler had a 37.7 shooting percentage and went only 7-of-22 on 3-pointers.

Purdue’s only two losses of the season came against Tennessee and Western Kentucky, both in last month’s Battle 4 Atlantis. Matt Painter’s team has not lost since and has wins over Arizona, Louisville, Northwestern, Maryland and now Butler in that stretch.
