Purdue has won 19 games in a row this season, built its resume as one of the best teams in the country and has its eyes on a national title.

The Boilermakers’ feet, meanwhile, will be in a special pair of sneakers.

Purdue will be the first college team to wear Kobe Bryant’s latest shoe, the Nike Zoom Kobe 1 Proto. The Boilermakers made the announcement in a video the team released Tuesday afternoon.

In a follow up tweet, Purdue explained that the program asked the basketball legend if the program could wear the black/yellow sneaker. The Mamba, impressed with the Boilermakers’ season, said yes.

The Kobe 1 Protos are set to be released Friday with a $175 price tag, according to HypeBeast.

Purdue should be wearing the shoes on Thursday night when the Boilermakers face Wisconsin in Madison. They’re trying to snap a two-game skid and stay near the top of the Big Ten race.
