About Dayton

The Flyers broke a four-game losing streak with a 72-70 overtime win at Fordham on Saturday, only their second road victory of the season. They’re still in the race for one of the four first-round byes in the A-10 tournament. Temple is in first and Saint Louis second, but seven teams are bunched together after that with either four or five league losses. The Flyers have been on target at the foul line (76 percent) and rebounded proficiently (plus-3.2 boards per game), but their defensive numbers are feeble. Foes are shooting 45.5 percent from the field, and UD is last in the league in blocked shots (3.0 per game) and next-to-last in steals (5.5).

About Charlotte

The 49ers are ranked 134th in the RPI. They have one of the A-10’s best post players in Chris Braswell. The former all-rookie selection is 13th in the league in scoring and sixth in rebounding (7.5). ... Henry is second in the A-10 and fourth nationally in steals with 2.8 per game. ... Briscoe transferred from North Carolina Central, where he was the nation’s second-leading freshman scorer in 2008-09, averaging 17.8 points. ... The 49ers are shooting 41.1 percent from the field (12th in the A-10) and 65 percent on free throws (13th).

FYI

The Flyers have been subpar at home compared to recent standards. They’re 10-4 at UD Arena and lost their last two games there to Rhode Island and Duquesne. One more defeat would tie their worst home record in the last 10 years. They went 14-5 in 2010-11 and 12-5 in 2005-06.

Quote, unquote

“Our crowd is great. It’s amazing. It’s there every game. We’ve got to give those people something to cheer about. Of late, for whatever reason, we’ve laid a couple of flat eggs.”

— UD coach Archie Miller
