Penn State sent five wrestlers to the championship bouts in their respective weight classes: Zain Retherford (149 pounds), Jason Nolf (157), Vincenzo Joseph (165), Mark Hall (174) and Bo Nickal (184).

Penn State had a big afternoon on Friday by sending those five wrestlers to championship bouts, and the Nittany Lions overtook Ohio State for the team points lead during the championship session Saturday night. Ohio State is the only other program to win an NCAA wrestling national championship in the last eight seasons as the Buckeyes won the 2015 title.
