Penn State’s James Franklin has special request for basketball fans for Ohio State game

Penn State football coach James Franklin likes to emphasize the task at hand. Projections and attention for future games can wait. Now he’s doing the same in support of the basketball team.

During the football season, Franklin likes to repeat the upcoming opponent name as a mantra: Akron, Akron, Akron before playing the Zips. He also tweeted out “Rutgers” 15 times after Penn State loss to Michigan State.

On Thursday, Franklin showed his support for the men’s basketball team ahead of the Nittany Lions’ home game against Ohio State.

“Ohio State, Ohio State, Ohio State!” Franklin tweeted. “Wear white to support (Penn State basketball and coach Pat Chambers) tonight! 1-0! #WeAre #ClimbWithUs.”

Penn State-Ohio State basketball: James Franklin writes message to fans

Penn State has already beaten Ohio State earlier this season. But now the Nittany Lions get the Buckeyes at home at 8 p.m. ET.

The Nittany Lion are 18-9 overall and 8-6 in the Big Ten. If Penn State defeats the No. 8 Buckeyes, it would give itself a big boost in the NCAA Tournament bubble picture.
