Oregon’s CJ Verdell is confident RB position will deliver in 2018

Despite losing their top two running backs from last year, running back CJ Verdell and the new casts of ball carriers believe there won’t be a slippage in production in 2018.

Verdell is confident that this year’s running back room can fill the void left by Royce Freeman and Kani Benoit, two departed players that accounted for 2,059 yards and 26 touchdowns.

“We’ve taken that as a challenge,” Verdell said, per Erik Skopil of 247 Sports. “A lot of people think there will be a drop-off because we don’t have Royce (Freeman) or Kani (Benoit)… but we’re here to show that that’s not true at all.”

Tony Brooks-James, Darrian Felix and Verdell are currently Oregon’s top running backs. The running backs appear motivated that they can handle the added responsibility.
