Oregon football recruiting: Ducks hope to right the ship after slew of de-commitments

Constant speculation surrounding Willie Taggart turned out to be true, as the coach bolted for Florida State last week. With him went a handful of hard commitments from prospects who decided to reopen their recruitment after Taggart left Eugene.

While the Ducks have rebounded with last Friday’s hiring of Mario Cristobal as head coach, it’s yet to be seen how many of those recruits decide to again commit to the program of which Cristobal has been a part for the last year. Oregon’s 2018 class remains the best in the Pac-12, but has slid to the bottom edge of the top 10.

The Ducks play their bowl game Saturday against Boise State, and then it’s right  back on the recruiting trail with the early signing period set for Dec. 20-22.

Here’s an update on where things stand for the  Class of 2018:

Where Oregon’s class ranks

Oregon’s 2018 class has 19 commits and is currently ranked  No. 10 in the country and  No. 1 in the Pac-12, according to 247Sports composite rankings. The Ducks have an average commit ranking of 89.30, which ranks fourth in the conference.
