Welcome to the Monday edition of our Oklahoma State DieHards morning roundup, where we take you through the biggest headlines around Oklahoma State athletics.

Oklahoma State sets spring game date, time

Oklahoma State football’s 2018 spring game is scheduled for April 28, the school announced on Tuesday. The annual scrimmage at Boone Pickens Stadium will kick off at 2 p.m. ET and should feature plenty of new faces seeing significant playing time.

The Cowboys will be searching this offseason for players to fill key roles with the departure of players such as Mason Rudolph, James Washington, Tre Flowers and Chad Whitener. The spring game should offer some insight to who the coaches like to play big roles in 2018.

Mike Gundy stars in hilarious basketball promo

How could anyone dislike Oklahoma State coach Mike Gundy? The man does it all. He produces high-octane offenses, sports a sick mullet and is a viral-video superstar.

In his latest acting role, Gundy starred in a promotional videos encouraging Cowboy fans to go to Gallagher-Iba Arena on Wednesday for a Valentine’s Day men’s basketball game between Oklahoma State and Kansas State at 7 p.m. ET. Take a look his hilarious performance:

Other headlines from the athletic department:

  • Former Oklahoma State defensive coordinator Glenn Spencer was hired by Charlotte to lead the 49ers’ defense. Spencer was fired from his role Oklahoma State in January following the Cowboys’ 10-3 season.
  • Former Tennessee running backs coach Robert Gillespie could be a great fit in Stillwater, Okla., on Gundy’s staff, says DieHards’ Shehan Jeyarajah.
  • Women’s basketball fell 87-45 to Baylor on Tuesday at Gallagher-Iba Arena. The Cowgirls (18-7, 9-5 Big 12) were led by Kaylee Jensen, who scored 18 points and recorded 7 rebounds. Jensen was the only player to score in double figures for Oklahoma State, however, and the bench scored only 1 point.
  • Softball jumped to No. 15 in the ESPN.com/USA Softball Top 25 and to No. 19 in the USA Today/NFCA Coaches Poll. It’s the program’s highest ranking since it was ranked No. 14 at the end of the 2010 season, according to a release.
  • Oklahoma State senior Vanessa Shippy was named the Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division I National Player of the Week, USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Week and College Sports Madness National Field Player of the Week. She’s the first Cowgirl to earn national player of the week honors since 2010.
  • Women’s golf finished in 15th place at the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge in Palos Verdes, Calif., on Wednesday. The Cowgirls were led by Chih-Min Cheh, who shot a 2-over 144 to finish tied for ninth place on the individual leaderboard. Alexis Sadeghy shot an 8-over 150 to finish tied for 42nd place.
