Welcome to the Wednesday edition of our Oklahoma State DieHards morning roundupwhere we take you through the biggest headlines around Oklahoma State athletics.

WR James Washington earns unanimous All-America status

Receiver James Washington became the seventh unanimous All-American in Oklahoma State history Tuesday. Washington made the All-America first teams for The Associated Press, Sporting News, Walter Camp Football Foundation, Football Writers Association of America and American Football Coaches Association, becoming the first Cowboys player to make all five first teams since receiver Justin Blackmon in 2011.

Washington leads the FBS in receiving yards and was one the nation’s best deep threats, averaging 20.6 yards per catch. He enters the Camping World Bowl against Virginia Tech needing 69 receiving yards to break Rashaun Woods’ Oklahoma State record for career receiving yards.

Mike Gundy uses helicopter to recruit, makes pitch to NBA star Jimmy Butler

Although it’s bowl season, the new early signing period has forced coaches to balance practice with recruiting. Oklahoma State coach Mike Gundy is trying to make the most of it.

This week, Gundy has flown around Oklahoma in a helicopter to meet with verbal commits ahead of the Dec. 20 early signing period. And when Minnesota Timberwolves star Jimmy Butler rocked an Oklahoma State jersey earlier this week, Gundy tweeted him to let him know the Cowboys would welcome him as a receiver. Gundy isn’t necessarily pleased having to handle bowl preparation and recruiting simultaneously, but it’s hard to tell with how much fun he’s having.
