Oklahoma State and Baylor meet for a Big 12 matchup on Saturday, October 14, 2017, with both squads coming off their bye. Find the score and live updates below.

The Cowboys (4-1 overall, 1-1 Big 12) enter their homecoming game with a three-game losing streak to the Bears. Baylor is the only team in the conference quarterback Mason Rudolph hasn’t beaten in his outstanding career.

The Bears (0-5, 0-2) will try to extend that winning streak while also seeking their first victory of the year. Baylor lost a one-score game to then-No. 3 Oklahoma before falling 33-20 to Kansas State two weeks ago. Cowboys coach Mike Gundy recognized Baylor as a much-improved team in its past two games.

Oklahoma State-Baylor preview, keys to the game

1. Rebuild the hype

This is multi-faceted. Of course, it applies to the Cowboys as a whole, who entered the season as darkhorse College Football Playoff candidates. Most pundits removed them from contention after their loss to TCU, but 2016’s Cowboys recovered from a loss against Baylor to win seven straight. These Cowboys can do the same. Likewise, Rudolph’s early-season play put him in the Heisman Trophy conversation, but that talk quieted after the defeat. If Rudolph performs well Saturday, he’ll likely earn his first victory over the Bears, the team he made his debut against, while re-establishing himself as a Heisman candidate.

2. Go deep

This is what Oklahoma State’s offense does best. James Washington, the nation’s leader in yards per reception among those with at least 20 catches, leads the charge and can be expected to do so again against the Bears. Baylor will  start two new safeties in Rajah Preciado and Verkedric Vaughns, giving the Cowboys an opportunity to take advantage of. If they can exploit Baylor’s defense, there’s little doubt of an improvement to 5-1.

3. Feed off the crowd

The Cowboys last defeated Baylor in 2013 in front of the largest crowd in Boone Pickens Stadium history, pounding the previously unbeaten Bears, 49-17. With Saturday being Oklahoma State’s homecoming game, there will be plenty of ceremony, and the team has the opportunity to add to it. It’s not America’s Greatest Homecoming Celebration without an inspired crowd and a victory, right?
