Stay up to date with Oklahoma football recruiting with the latest news and notes and analysis in the daily edition of DieHards’ Wagon Wheels. In this edition, we shift the focus to the Sooners’ 2019 class.
Oklahoma is ahead on 2019 recruiting
The Sooners completed the 2018 recruiting class last week, but it doesn’t mean their work for the 2019 class is just getting underway. Oklahoma coach Lincoln Riley’s estimation is that at least 90 percent of the recruiting Oklahoma has done since January is for the 2019 class and beyond.
Oklahoma already holds five commitments for the class. All of them have been in the fold since at least November.
• QB Spencer Rattler, 4-stars, Pinnacle (Phoenix)
• TE Austin Stogner, 4 stars, Prestonwood Christian (Plano, Texas)
• WR Trejan Bridges, 4 stars, Hebron (Carrollton, Texas)
• RB Isaiah Spiller, 4 stars, Klein Collins (Spring, Texas)
• DT Derek Green, 3 stars, Southwest, (Jacksonville, N.C.)
The Sooners will look to add more when they host their second junior day on Saturday.
How many prospects ultimately attend can vary. Issues such as weather and transportation always crop up at this time of year. But there are some major targets planning to attend, including at least two of the best receivers in Texas.
Four-star wide receiver Theo Wease (Allen, Texas) who committed to the Sooners nearly a year ago but backed off several weeks later, plans to be in Norman.

Austin (Lake Travis) 4-star wide receiver Garrett Wilson also plans to make the trip to Oklahoma. Wilson picked up an offer from the Sooners last month and has been trying to make a trip to Norman since.
It helps that they’re expected to be around an enthusiastic member of the 2019 class. Just about anytime Oklahoma has held a recruiting function since September, Bridges has been there.
There will be more than receivers in attendance this weekend. But that spot is an important one in the 2019 class. Geographically, the Sooners are positioned well.
Seven of the top 25 receivers in the current 247Sports composite rankings are from Texas. The group includes Wease (No. 3), Jordan Whittington (No. 4), Arjei Henderson (No. 8), Jalen Curry (No. 17), Wilson (No. 18), Kam Brown (No. 20) and Bridges (No. 25).
Oklahoma grad transfer target takes in Auburn
Lincoln Riley said he left at least two scholarships open in the 2018 class for graduate transfers. One target is former Rice tackle Calvin Anderson.
Anderson took his first official visit to Auburn over the weekend. Anderson also has expressed interest in Texas, Michigan and TCU.
Sooners have an ‘in’ with 4-star 2019 safety Jalani Williams
While in St. Louis recruiting 2018 defensive tackle signee Michael Thompson, the Sooners offered his teammate at Parkway North High School, 4-star safety Jalani Williams.
Williams is the No. 228 overall prospect in the Class of 2019 and the No. 15 safety. He’s also intrigued with the Sooners.
“I already know Mike is going to be recruiting me hard to go there,” Williams told 247Sports. “Oklahoma is one best programs in the country, especially going to the College Football Playoff and for them getting Mike is an added bonus for them recruiting me there.”
Williams also said he will be in Norman on Saturday for the Sooners’ junior day.
