6 Oklahoma players make Pro Football Focus weekly Big 12 team

Even after Saturday’s disappointing loss to Iowa State, six Oklahoma players graded out well enough to make Pro Football Focus’ Big 12 team of the week. Notably, all of them were on offense.

Quarterback Baker Mayfield, tight end Dimitri Flowers, tackle Bobby Evans, center Erick Wren, and guards Ben Powers and Cody Ford made up half of Pro Football Focus’ offensive team, representing the Sooners as the best at their positions the previous week. However, no Oklahoma defensive players made Pro Football Focus’ team.

The Sooners’ defense, primarily defensive coordinator Mike Stoops, received the majority of the criticism after Oklahoma’s 38-31 loss to Iowa State on Saturday. However, coach Lincoln Riley said no coaching changes are coming in the wake of the defeat.

Instead, the Sooners have the opportunity to rebound Saturday when they’ll face Texas in the Red River Showdown. If next week’s Pro Football Focus defensive team is as loaded with Sooners as the offensive side, Oklahoma will have like done its job against the Longhorns.
