Jonathon Cooper ready to shine in 2018

Jonathon Cooper doesn’t have the same name recognition heading into the 2018 season as some of his counterparts on the Ohio State defensive line. But the junior defensive end should make his mark this year. Land of 10’s Ryan Ginn examined why Cooper is in line for a breakout season.

“This is his moment right now, it really is. And he’s doing everything he can to make sure he grabs it,” Ohio State defensive line coach Larry Johnson said of Cooper.

Dwayne Haskins trains with Antonio Brown during spring break

Dwayne Haskins might not have planned on spending his spring break working on football. But when you’re doing it on the beach with one of the NFL’s best playmakers, it’s probably not too bad. Haskins, who is in the thick of a quarterback competition this spring, posted a photo on his Instagram of himself alongside Antonio Brown. Haskins is working out with the Pittsburgh Steelers star (and some others) this week in Florida.

Why you shouldn’t rule Joe Burrow out of Ohio State’s QB race

Even before his training session with Brown, Haskins has been at the center of the conversation about Ohio State’s quarterback competition in 2018. But Land of 10’s Austin Ward says it’s still too early to rule Joe Burrow out of the race. Sure, Burrow was behind Haskins last season on the depth chart and he is a candidate to transfer if he doesn’t land the job. “But Burrow is still around, still talented and still drawing praise from Urban Meyer,” Ward explains.

Buckeyes land in Boise ahead of NCAA Tournament

The Buckeyes are in Boise. Ohio State’s men’s basketball team landed in Idaho on Tuesday evening, two days before their meeting with South Dakota State in the 2018 NCAA Tournament.

Ohio State is listed as an 8-point favorite over the 12th-seeded Jackrabbits.

Thad Matta reportedly offered Georgia basketball job

Thad Matta could have a new job before the end of Wednesday. The former Ohio State coach was offered the top job at Georgia, according to Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports.

Matta and Ohio State parted ways last June. He spent 13 seasons coaching the Buckeyes and is the winningest coach in program history. Matta also reportedly met with Ole Miss about its coaching opening in recent weeks.
