Ohio State student section calls for ‘Blackout The Shoe’ for Penn State game

The Ohio State student section has a special request for all fans: Wear black.

The Block O wants all Buckeyes fans in attendance for the 3:30 p.m. ET Saturday game to wear black.

“#BlackoutTheShoe,” the student section’s Twitter account wrote.

The Block O asked for fans to spread the word. That setup would be quite a change for the visiting Nittany Lions. Last week, Penn State held its “White Out” game against Michigan and routed the Wolverines, 42-13.

This week, Ohio State’s students are asking for all Buckeyes fans to create an intimidating atmosphere by wearing black.

Ohio State is wearing all-gray alternate uniforms for the game. ESPN’s College GameDay is also going to be in Columbus this week.

No. 6 Ohio State gets No. 2 Penn State for the huge top-10 showdown with major Big Ten and College Football Playoff implications. Last year, then-No. 2 Ohio State lost to Penn State, 24-21, with a blocked field goal that was returned for a touchdown.

This time, the Nittany Lions are the visiting team with the No. 2 ranking.

Ohio State is 6-1 this season, including 4-0 in the Big Ten. Penn State is 7-0 overall and 4-0 in the Big Ten.

The winner of the game will become the new favorite in the Big Ten East, though both the Buckeyes and Nittany Lions still have to play ranked Michigan State.
