Ohio State football is the No. 1 topic in  Wake Up  every day — but we cover news, notes and analysis from across Buckeyes sports. Join us each morning to get caught up on everything you missed in the world of Ohio State football, recruiting, basketball and more.

What will Ohio State’s depth chart look like in 2018?

With National Signing Day in the books and most transfers having already made their decisions, Ohio State’s roster in 2018 is essentially set. But what will Ohio State’s depth chart look like this spring? Land of 10’s Ryan Ginn predicted how the Buckeyes’ three-deeps will look next season. Here’s the projection for the offense. And  the defense.

Buckeyes No. 1 in projected analytic rankings

The numbers like Ohio State heading into 2018. The Buckeyes were projected as the nation’s No. 1 team in the projected 2018 S&P+ rankings, which Bill Connelly of SB Nation put together. Ohio State edged Alabama for the No. 1 spot in a ranking system based on returning production, recruiting and recent success.

The only bad news in the rankings for the Buckeyes? Three other Big Ten East teams are in the top 11. Penn State is No. 8, Michigan is No. 10 and Michigan State is No. 11.

Ohio State basketball in sole possession of first place in Big Ten

It’s Feb. 12 and the Ohio State Buckeyes men’s basketball team is in first place in the Big Ten. Raise your hand if you called that three months ago. The Buckeyes took sole possession of the top spot on Saturday night with a little help from Michigan State. The Spartans knocked off Purdue thanks to Miles Bridges’ game-winner.

This was Purdue’s second loss of the week, as the Buckeyes also beat them on Wednesday night. Ohio State took care of business at home against Iowa on Saturday night. The Buckeyes are 13-1 in conference play. Michigan State and Purdue are 12-2 — and they both have head-to-head losses against Ohio State.

Chris Holtmann’s team should be moving up from its spot at No. 14 in the new AP poll that comes out Monday. Ohio State plays again Thursday night at Penn State.

Women’s basketball falls to South Florida

Ohio State’s women’s basketball team didn’t have the same kind of luck over the weekend. The No. 13 Buckeyes fell to South Florida (unranked in the AP poll, No. 22 in the coaches poll), 84-65 on Sunday afternoon.

The loss snapped a four-game winning streak for the Buckeyes, who are 20-6 overall this season.
