Ohio State adds Kamryn Babb, Tommy Togiai to 2018 class

Tuesday night was a huge one for the Buckeyes on the recruiting trail. It started a little after 7 p.m. ET when 4-star wide receiver Kamryn Babb announced his commitment to Ohio State. Babb, a 6-foot-1, 189-pound wideout from St. Louis, is ranked as the No. 65 overall player and No. 12 wide receiver in the 2018 class in the 247Sports composite ratings.

Less than an hour after Babb made his commitment public, 4-star defensive tackle Tommy Togiai from Pocatello, Idaho, tweeted that he was also committed to Ohio State.

Togiai, who picked Ohio State over Washington, is ranked as the No. 126 player and No. 9 DT in the 2018 class per 247Sports.

Updating Ohio State’s 2018 class

Ohio State’s top-ranked 2018 recruiting class got even better on Tuesday night. There are now 21 players in the 2018 class committed to Urban Meyer’s team — 15 of whom are ranked among the nation’s top 160 players.

Larry Johnson Sr. named top defensive line coach

Ohio State’s defensive line was one of the nation’s most daunting in the 2017 season with the likes of Nick Bosa, Tyquan Lewis and Sam Hubbard up front. Those players and more helped Buckeyes assistant Larry Johnson Sr. earn the distinction of Defensive Line Coach of the Year. The award was handed out by 247Sports, which honored assistants at each position. Johnson just wrapped up his fourth season at Ohio State after spending 18 seasons on Penn State’s staff.

More All-America honors for Billy Price, Denzel Ward

Ohio State center Billy Price and cornerback Denzel Ward received more All-America honors on Tuesday. Sporting News named Price and Ward first-team All-Americans. Price and Ward were both named first-team All-Americans by The Associated Press on Monday. Buckeyes defensive end Nick Bosa was part of Sporting News’ All-America second team.
