Ohio State fans rip Michigan football over tweet

Ohio State football-Michigan-Twitter-fans rip Michigan-2018

On Nov. 26, 2016, Ohio State and Michigan played in what is now considered one of the best games in the storied Ohio State-Michigan rivalry. The game ended in favor of the Buckeyes, who won 30-27 in double overtime at Ohio Stadium in Columbus.

While Curtis Samuel’s game-winning touchdown will forever be remembered by Ohio State fans, J.T. Barrett’s controversial first down on 4th & 1 in overtime may be the play that both fan bases remember the most, but for very different reasons.

Had Barrett been short of the first down, Michigan would have won the game and likely would have made the College Football Playoff. However, the ruling, after review, was that Barrett got the first down, which ultimately led to Ohio State winning the game and earning a spot in the College Football Playoff.

So why is this relevant in 2018?

Well, it all started with this tweet by Michigan football on Tuesday.

Michigan tweeted a few pictures from the practice and raised a hypothetical question to its fan base, asking, “When we need one yard, who can we count on?”

Ohio State fans saw the irony of the tweet and wasted no time in reminding Michigan that Barrett got the first down in the 2016 edition of “The Game.”

Check out some of the responses:

Ohio State fans will never let Michigan live this one down.
