Ranked as the No. 40 player and the No. 4 dual-threat quarterback in the 2018 class in the 247Sports composite ratings, Jones has taken multiple visits to both Auburn and Alabama. He verbally committed to the Buckeyes on July 29, but there’s no guarantee he signs with the Buckeyes when the early signing period starts Wednesday.
With Jones verbally committed, Ohio State added another quarterback to its 2018 class last week when Matthew Baldwin pledged to Urban Meyer’s program. Meyer said that Ohio State could take two quarterbacks in the class, but if Jones does stick with the Buckeyes, he’ll be on a roster with Dwayne Haskins and Tate Martell, who have three and four years of eligibility left, respectively.
Florida does not have a quarterback in its 2018 class and Jones would have a decent chance to play as an underclassman in Gainesville.
