Gus Malzahn is a coaching legend in the state of Arkansas. While he opted for an extension at Auburn this offseason instead of the Razorbacks job, he still keeps a close watch on what happens in the state.
Luckily, it’s easy to connect Malzahn and new Arkansas coach Chad Morris, who recently offered high praise of him on the Bo Mattingly Show.

“Gus and I talk quite regular and it has been very helpful,” Morris said. “One of my very dear friends as a matter of fact. He and I go back to around 2002 so we’ve known each other for quite some time and have shared a lot of ideas along the way and talked a lot of ball. His wife and my wife are friends. So it is, when we got the job he could not have been more prouder. He called me and we went back and forth on it the whole time. He’s just very excited for the state that he loves and very excited for me and the opportunity that is here at the University of Arkansas. So yeah, we have, we’ve talked and talked in-depth.”
While both their teams will be looking for SEC West titles in 2018, it’s clear they will remain close friends off the field.
