Nebraska volleyball advances to Final Four with win over Kentucky

Nebraska volleyball is heading back to the Final Four. The fifth-seeded Cornhuskers beat fourth-seeded Kentucky, 3-1 (25-19, 25-22, 25-27, 25-22) on Saturday afternoon to win their regional in the NCAA Tournament.

Nebraska volleyball advances to 2017 Final Four

Mikaela Foecke led the Huskers with 18 kills, and Nebraska hit .271 as a team against Kentucky.

Nebraska swept Stony Brook, Washington State and Colorado to start its NCAA Tournament run before beating the Wildcats in Lexington. John Cook’s team is now 30-4 on the season and has not lost since dropping a match against Wisconsin on Oct. 11 in Madison.

It’s the third straight Final Four for the Huskers, who won the women’s volleyball national title in 2015. It’s the first time in program history the Huskers have been to three consecutive Final Fours. They will play in a national semifinal on Thursday night at the Sprint Center in Kansas City.
