Mitchell Solomon records first career double-double in upset of undefeated Florida State

Oklahoma State just upset no. 19 and undefeated Florida State, and with the victory came a historic mark for senior F Mitchell Solomon.

The experienced Solomon lodged the first double-double of his career, made the go-ahead basket, and took the charge that sealed the game.

That’s not a bad day at all.

On a wider scale, this game is just more proof that the Big 12 is one of the deepest conferences in the nation. SI and other media outlets predicted that the Cowboys would finish last in the Big 12, heck the Big 12 predicted that they’d finish last in the conference.

Oklahoma State is currently 8-2, and sitting in a very good place heading into the teeth of conference play. Jeffery Carroll is averaging 12.7 points per game, Solomon is averaging 6.2 rebounds per game, and Kendall Smith is cranking out 3.9 rebounds a game. If the Cowboys keep this up, they’re likely to beat their low conference expectations.
