Nick Fitzgerald accomplished some impressive Mississippi State history Saturday.

As part of the Bulldogs’ game against BYU at Davis Wade Stadium, the quarterback became the second player in program history to pass for 25 touchdowns and run for 25 touchdowns in a career. The only other? Former quarterback Dak Prescott, now a star with the Dallas Cowboys.

The feat happened as Mississippi State built a 21-3 halftime lead against BYU. Fitzgerald completed 11 of 20 passes for 139 yards with 1 touchdown and 1 interception in the first half. He also ran for 72 yards with 2 touchdowns before halftime.

Fitzgerald, a junior, has such an intriguing ceiling. It will be fun to see how he develops throughout the rest of the year and next season.

Mississippi State fans should be excited about the future.
