Mike Gundy loves to show off his dance moves after a big win, so he was sad when he didn’t get to do that after Oklahoma State beat Texas in Week 8.
The Cowboys coach said he was planning to dance a little in the locker room after beating the Longhorns 13-10 in overtime, but his players didn’t want him to.
“I was really disappointed. They didn’t want me to dance,” Gundy said, according to Pistols Firing. “I was trying to get a little national publicity, you know, hit the SportsCenter and such. And they didn’t ask for that. Now they’ve gotten so used to winning they don’t even ask me to dance, and so that’s a downer for me.”
Gundy has had multiple locker room dance videos go viral after Oklahoma State victories, including one after defeating Texas last season.
Now, according to Gundy, his team celebrates differently because the players expect to win.
“But the point is, for some reason, they’re winning how to win big games on the road in difficult places, and they should be proud of that,” Gundy said.
It will be a shame if that increased success robs college football plans of the chance to see Gundy dance. However, Gundy will surely still provide plenty of comedic material.
