Could Michigan drop its second game in a row? Is Wisconsin’s perfect record in jeopardy? CBS Sports thinks things might not be all that easy for the Wolverines or Badgers this weekend.
Both Michigan (at Indiana) and Wisconsin (vs. Purdue) were both listed as teams that could be on upset alert this weekend by CBS Sports’ Ben Kercheval.
Michigan is facing the Hoosiers on the road at noon. Coming off the loss to Michigan State last week, Michigan is listed as just a 5-point favorite against the Hoosiers. Here’s why Kercheval put the Wolverines on upset alert:
Michigan doesn’t have that same type of game-changer. In fact, the Wolverines are a mess overall on offense. Noon road games with low-score potential would make me nervous if I was a favorite.
The Badgers, meanwhile, are at home against a Purdue side riding high after beating Minnesota. The Badgers are a 16-point favorite, but can’t overlook the Boilermakers. Don’t be shocked if this is a close game in the second half, Kercheval writes.
Wins over Northwestern (33-24) and Nebraska (38-17) look fine at face value, but those were 10-7 and 17-10 at the half, respectively. In fact, the Badgers were knotted at 17 in the third quarter against the Cornhuskers before going on a 21-point run. Part of that is good adjustments by the coaching staff, but it’s also a potential red flag if a game is tight deep into the fourth quarter.
