Wolverines host Georgia 4-star S Kenyatta Watson

Michigan is set to host 2019 safety Kenyatta Watson II this weekend for an unofficial visit. Watson is a 4-star prospect, according to the 247Sports composite, and holds 37 offers.

Watson attends Grayson (Ga.) High School, the same school where redshirt freshman Kurt Taylor played as a senior in 2016. Grayson won the Georgia Class 7A state championship that season.

Watson (6-foot-2, 177 pounds) is a top target for Notre Dame and Florida State, but his offer list also includes Auburn, Georgia, Alabama and Wisconsin. The Wolverines also have offers out to 2019 Grayson tackle Trente Jones, tackle Wanya Morris and wide receiver Kenyon Jackson.

Michigan got the weekend visits started Thursday when in-state prospects wide receiver Tre Mosley and linebacker Lance Dixon made the trip from West Bloomfield with their coach — former Wolverines wide receiver Ron Bellamy.

Miami-area teammates making official visits

Wide receiver John Dunmore will join his Hollywood (Fla.) Chaminade-Madonna teammate Te’Cory Couch on an official visit to Michigan the weekend of the spring game, which is scheduled for April 14.

Dunmore (6-2, 172) is a 4-star prospect ranked No. 152 overall. He previously was committed to Florida but de-committed on Jan. 22. Couch is a 4-star cornerback who is committed to Tennessee.

The players are taking advantage of new rules that allow rising seniors to begin taking their five allotted official visits in the spring of their junior year.

Opening regional sites, dates announced

Dates and sites for this year’s The Opening regionals have been set. The first of the preliminary camps for Nike’s national camp in the summer will be Sunday, Feb. 18, in Miami. There will be eight regional camps, the final one being held at Massillon (Ohio) Washington High School on May 5.

One of the sites is Buford (Ga.) High School near Atlanta. That’s where 2018 Michigan running back signee Christian Turner goes to school. The Wolverines have offers to 2019 Buford tackle Harry Miller, tackle Carter Colquitt and running back Derrian Brown.
