When scrambling on a third-and-goal pass attempt, a quarterback is taught to throw the ball out of bounds. A safe throw like that will prevent an interception from happening and will allow the offensive team a chance at a field goal. But that type of throw during the third quarter of the Miami-Georgia Tech matchup was anything but safe for one security guard.
Georgia Tech signal caller TaQuon Marshall overthrew everybody on the field with a third-down throw at about Miami’s 15-yard line. But his pass nailed a security guard directly in the back of the head.

It’s unclear where the guard walked away to after getting nailed, but hopefully he was able to grab some ice. That one looked like it might have hurt.
