Miami’s win against Florida State on Saturday took a toll on the Hurricanes. Miami won’t just be missing Mark Walton on Saturday when it welcomes Georgia Tech to Hard Rock Stadium. The Hurricanes will be missing three other starters.
The weekly Miami injury report released Thursday confirmed the absence of three more key contributors this weekend. Right guard Navaughn Donaldson, cornerback Dee Delaney and safety Sheldrick Redwine are all out for the No. 11 Hurricanes’ ACC clash in Miami Gardens, Fla. The Hurricanes also list wide receiver Ahmmon Richards as questionable.
Donaldson’s absence could be the most critical. The freshman is one of Miami’s most raw talented offensive lineman and has been crucial as a pulling guard in the Hurricanes’ rushing attack. Junior Jahair Jones will move into the starting lineup with Donaldson out and it will only make things tougher for Travis Homer, who will make his first start at running back with Walton out for the season.

The defensive back injuries shouldn’t be as pivotal against the Yellow Jackets’ triple-option offense. Georgia Tech has only thrown 33 passes in for games so far this season.
Delaney’s injury could pave the way for highly touted freshman Trajan Bandy to make his first career start opposite Malek Young. The defensive back is listed as Delaney’s co-backup with junior Jhavonte Dean. At safety, either sophomore Romeo Finley or freshman Amari Carter will move in to the starting lineup alongside Jaquan Johnson.
Richards being unable to go would also be problematic for Miami – he’s clearly the Hurricanes’ most talented offensive player with Walton injured – but Miami has been able to survive without him this year. The sophomore missed the first two games of the season with a hamstring injury and the Hurricanes pieced together a game-winning drive in Tallahassee, Fla., with Richards on the sideline. Lawrence Cager would start in Richards’ place at X-receiver if he’s unable to go. Darrell Langham, the hero of Miami’s 24-20 win at Doak Campbell Stadium, could also see an expanded role.
