It’s been trying times for Miami Hurricanes men’s basketball coach Jim Larranaga, but he has Hurricanes football coach Mark Richt in his corner.
On Monday, Larranaga denied any wrongdoing in the recent FBI probe, and Tuesday, Richt said he believes him.
“I know Jim fairly well, and if there’s ever been a genuine human being, it’s Jim Larranaga,” Richt said according to The Palm Beach Post. “I don’t even know what’s going on, other than, to have to defend yourself against things that … it’s not fun. You’re building a program and you’re gaining momentum and you have to manage it. But that’s why you have a head coach. He’s very capable of doing it. I heard his comments this morning and you can just tell he’s very sincere about what he’s saying. I believe him.”

Larranaga said Monday that he believes he is “Coach 3” in the FBI college basketball probe and is very thankful he and his staff have come to that conclusion.
I am grateful we have come to that conclusion, as I know I did nothing wrong, and it is comforting to know none of my assistants are connected in any way.
However, the U.S. Attorney’s office has yet to officially confirm the identity of “Coach-3.”
