Miami rose to No. 6 in Monday’s AP Top 25, but that wasn’t the only noteworthy praise the Hurricanes received.
Freshman wing Lonnie Walker was named the ACC Rookie of the Week. Walker had the best game of his career on Tuesday, scoring 26 points against Boston University. He went 5-for-7 from 3-point range and is now shooting 41.9 percent from distance on the season.

Walker garnered plenty of hype before he ever played a college game, and he started off relatively slow. But he’s starting to show the talent that had so many people buzzing. Walker has reached double figures in scoring in each of his last two games, and has made 8-of-11 3-pointers in that span.
Miami basketball has plenty to be excited about for the rest of the season. But Walker’s emergence could allow the Hurricanes to contend for a national title.
