Former Alabama quarterback AJ McCarron visited Tuscaloosa this weekend, and he left especially impressed with current quarterback Jalen Hurts.
“He’s young, but he’s played great,” McCarron told Drew Hill and TuscaloosaNews.com. “I think he’s done what they have asked. He’s only going to get better, that’s usually how it works whenever you start playing. I’m excited for him. He’s a really good dude.”
McCarron knows a good quarterback when he sees one. The current Cincinnati Bengal won two National Championships at Alabama and owns several career passing records with the Crimson Tide.
McCarron added that he plans on working with all the Alabama quarterbacks in the offseason.
After a solid freshman season that ended with a berth in the College Football Playoff, Hurts is off to a tremendous sophomore campaign.
He’s completing a higher percentage of his passes and has been much more careful with the ball. Through six games, he’s thrown seven touchdowns and 0 interceptions. He’s also been more efficient as a rusher, averaging 7.5 yards per carry (5.0 last year) and has five rushing touchdowns on the year.
Alabama’s next game is vs Arkansas on Saturday at 6:15 p.m.
