LSU football podcast: Will the Tigers ever have another Heisman winner?

LSU football is the No. 1 topic of discussion every day on SEC Country’s  One Team, One Podcast. Host  Carter ‘The Power” Bryant ponders in this episode if the Tigers will ever have another player hoist the Heisman trophy. Also, Bryant relives the glorious season of 1959 winner Billy Cannon, chats about the LSU hoops team and has a hilarious moment for the Fact of the Day.

LSU’s Heisman struggles

There are few plays more iconic in LSU history than Billy Cannon’s Halloween 89-yard punt return touchdown against Ole Miss. Cannon’s scamper played a crucial role in winning the Heisman in 1959.

The Tigers have yet to have another winner since. With Oklahoma’s Baker Mayfield receiving the award this season, Bryant wonders if LSU will ever have a player to hoist the most coveted individual award in sports.

Tyrann Mathieu, Patrick Peterson, Leonard Fournette and Derrius Guice are all players that have had serious Heisman campaigns, with only Mathieu making the finals in New York City.

LSU hoops wins big

Bryant talks about LSU basketball’s win over UNC-Wilmington. The Tigers will welcome a talented 8-1 Houston Cougars basketball team to the Pete Maravich Assembly Center on Wednesday.
