Louisville Cardinals quarterback Lamar Jackson has yet to announce his NFL plans for this coming offseason, but that hasn’t stopped SB Nation from placing him high in mock drafts.
On Tuesday, Jackson went to the New York Jets at No. 11 in the latest SB Nation 2018 NFL mock draft. Here’s there explanation:
Imagine the charismatic and mobile Louisville star with a big arm making plays for the Jets. Jackson could help rejuvenate a franchise that has relied on 38-year-old Josh McCown this season.
Even at No. 11, Jackson was the fourth quarterback in the mock draft behind UCLA’s Josh Rosen, Oklahoma’s Baker Mayfield, and USC’s Sam Darnold. Wyoming’s Josh Allen went at No. 12 to the Arizona Cardinals, so that means SN Nation predicts five quarterbacks will go in the top 12. Last year, three signal callers went in the top 12.
If he does indeed leave school, it will be interesting to see how NFL draft experts continue to view Jackson during the offseason. Also on Tuesday, former college and NFL coach Steve Spurrier said he believes Jackson will be an ‘outstanding’ NFL quarterback.
Coming into the season, he had accuracy problems, but he solved those issues, posting a 60.4 completion percentage along with a 8.7 yards per attempt average.
Jackson finished the 2017 season with 3,489 passing yards, 25 touchdowns and just six interceptions. He also rushed for 1,443 yards and 17 scores.
