Louisville-Florida State: Time, TV channel, watch online for Week 8 game (October 21, 2017)

Louisville and Florida State meet on Saturday, October 21, 2017 in what was supposed to be one of the most important ACC Atlantic Division games of the year, but it could instead decide who ends Week 8 in last place.

The Cardinals come into this matchup reeling, having lost two of their last three games and three straight conference contests. Last Saturday, Louisville gave up 45 points to Boston College, who aren’t exactly known as an offensive juggernaut.

Florida State isn’t in great shape either, but the Seminoles have won two of the last three and remained undefeated in their history against Duke with a 17-10 victory last week.

Louisville-Florida State preview, keys to the game

The Cardinals badly need to win this game, not only for their season but their program and school in light of the men’s basketball team scandal and the firing of Rick Pitino this past week. But in order to save this season, Bobby Petrino’s team must win this game.

Louisville sits at 1-3 in conference play after three straight ACC losses. That’s tied for last with Boston College in the Atlantic Division, and the Eagles just beat the Cardinals last week. Another defeat would almost guarantee Petrino’s squad finishes in the bottom half of the division and ensure the team will finish no better than .500 in the conference.

That’s not the way the Cardinals want to end the career of quarterback Lamar Jackson. Despite not getting any Heisman hype since the Week 3 loss against Clemson, Jackson is having another great year. He has completed 60.2 percent of his passes for 2,322 passing yards with 16 touchdowns and 5 interceptions. Jackson has also added 690 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns on the ground.

Clearly, Jackson isn’t the problem, but Petrino needs to get more out of the playmakers around the quarterback position and improve the defense in short order in order to have a chance to win at Tallahassee.

As for Florida State, the Seminoles are looking to get back to the .500 mark, but they have something else on their minds. Last year, the Cardinals beat the Seminoles, 63-20, and while head coach Jimbo Fisher says this is a new team and isn’t think about that result, cornerback Levonta Taylor indicated that he and other players are taking this rematch very personally.

The Cardinals and Jackson exploded for 35 points in the first half and then scored the first 4 touchdowns of the second half to absolutely embarrass the Seminoles. It was the most points Florida State had ever allowed in a game, and it was one of the worst losses ever suffered by a No. 2 ranked team in FBS.

In order to get their revenge, the Seminoles will need to keep improving offensively. Florida State accumulated 425 yards last week but only scored 17 points. Furthermore, quarterback James Blackman only had 3 incompletions but 2 of them were interceptions.
